Components
It is essential to create a system consisting of the same, which helps with consistency and quicker builds.

Design systems
What this case study is all about
01
Since I was involved in creating a suite of applications and features for locomotive maintenance. It only made sense to create a robust design system that would help in quickly building the same.
02
In this situation, I worked solo to unify the elements from the different applications and create a type of pattern library.
03
An essential part of the endeavor was creating components in the form of data sets and tables, as ours was a data-intensive product and needed a clean interface for showcasing it.
04
Also, this project solely exists on this portfolio/website to prove that I know how to create design systems because apparently, creating an interface isn't enough evidence.
Project dynamics
Team
SOLO
While other designers did use the system. It was my responsibility to create and maintain it.
Client
A major locomotive company based in the United States.
Timeline
Generally a few weeks to create the system but refining and maintaining it is always an on-going effort.

Parting thoughts
A reasonable conclusion of these assets make sense.
01
The design system and pattern library was useful in creating and scaling interfaces quickly
02
Most stakeholders other than product owners are unfamiliar with locomotive maintenance and the range of applications, functions, and data that are involved; the discovery process provides a whole lot of insight into the same and highlights the existing synergy
03
The journey maps provide a visual aid of all functions being performed and helpful indicators of where the experience is lacking and needs improvement.
