About me
Nice to meet you, I’m Mahesh, and I am a designer.
I live in the exciting yet occasionally cold/hot city of Toronto in Canada. Like many of my peers, my path into design hasn’t been linear. When I finished high school, I got into a fine arts program but opted for business instead. I graduated from college with a degree in business and got very involved in theatre and photography during my time there. In my final year, I got a job at a bank, and a streamlined path was set for me.
However, I became fascinated by working in advertising, so I enrolled in a course to learn graphic design and copywriting, and I started my career as a copywriter in 2015. After working with two agencies and a stint in marketing, I considered what made sense next. It turned out to be product design, which was my calling.
In 2019, I made my way to the California College of the Arts in San Francisco, where I learnt new techniques, met cool people, got a masters degree in design, and survived a pandemic.
San Francisco was my home for five years, and I truly loved the city. In 2024, when I couldn’t make the H1B visa lottery, my company (kindly) helped me and my wife relocate to Toronto, which is where I currently live and is my home now.
In our field, it’s common for people to transition from another field, and while that’s the case with me, I wholeheartedly feel I have always been a designer. I’m happy to bring my varied experiences, perspectives, and skills to my work. All that’s left is for companies to decide whether what I have to offer is worth the paycheck. I’d leave the rest of my website to drive you towards that decision :)
